Byron Bay Blues & Roots (as it was once called) began in 1990 in Byron Bay at The Arts Factory, attracting some 6000 people over four days at a small venue to now becoming Australia’s biggest Blues festival with over 200 performances on 7 stages, having 5 licenced bars at its own 120 hectare venue, just north of Byron Bay and now attracts 100,000 + through the gates over the Easter long weekend. The Bluesfest is now credited with creating employment and contracts for locals and local businesses and is estimated to contribute over $40 million annually to the NSW economy.
As well as bringing in huge headline acts from overseas, local and national musicians are also supported and it has grown into a festival for all ages renowned for being a safe, fun, family friendly event boasting over 100 food and market stalls, undercover food courts, beer gardens and children’s entertaiment.
